Smackdown

Once again in a bid to improve its Nielsen ratings, Access Osceola is pushing the envelope of the Government Broadcast Network. Programming on the edge is nothing new to Access Osceola, but some think they may have pushed too far in last night's episode of the City of Kissimmee Commission Meeting.

Last night's show aired as normal, but at the end of the meeting a raw and explosive shouting match erupted between Commissioner Gemskie and Commissioner Irizarry. The skit started with Commissioner Gemskie trash talking the Fire Department, which led into taunts directed towards Commissioner Irizarry. The taunts were for a position Irizarry had taken at the last impasse meeting held by the City Commission and the Fire Department Union. The commission meeting was then adjourned which is when the twist in the plot was revealed. Commissioner Gemskie stood up and approached Commissioner Irizarry shouting that he needed to keep his comments to himself when he (Gemskie) was talking. Commissioner Irizarry fired back in true WWE style that if a comment was made towards him, that he would say something. Then, in a true cliffhanger fashion, the govcom (government situation comedy) ended as the battle between the titans escalated in the background. It appears that this was a scripted event, like most commission meetings, that could lead into a possible explosive Pay-Per-View cage match event where the two will go head to head.

"We feel that this match up is going to be a real hit with our viewers," noted one insider close to some source in Access Osceola. "A cage-match is what they want to see. It was either we do this, or we introduce Ted McGinley as a replacement commissioner."

As of blog-time, the WayneWho staff could not confirm a date or price for the match, but we can't wait to place our order. If it is a good enough bout, we recommend that we send the video to the All-America City Pageant judges for review. A win would be almost certain with a cage match under our belts.

I knew I should have watched it last night, but it looked like a boring agenda. I missed the fight!

Jerry was very grumpy last night. His campaign must be getting to him.

I have often thought that Access Osceola could do a PPV on an episode of some of their more clasic slides. Some one might pay to see that, even if the click on it by accident.

The thing we can all be thankful for is that with it being Carlos and Jerry is that there was no wardrobe malfunction. That is when we might have to sue.

When is the replay?

I was not present at the meeting, nor have I seen the video, so I will not comment on it.

However, as I believe Commissioner Gemskie's comments were based on a editorial letter in last weeks NewsGazette, we stand by that statement.

At our recent impasse hearing, we presented solid data to the Commissioners. None of the Commissioners, save Commissioner Irizarry, asked one question to any of it.

This seemed inherantly unfair. Why? Because during the course of negotiations the City staff, City labor attorney and City Commissioners held several shade meetings to discuss the "city's version" of the status of negotiations. These shade meetings are not open to the public and no record or minutes are taken.

So at the impasse hearing (our first and only chance to present our evidence)the perception is that the Commissioners had already made up their minds, regardless of what we presented. Hence no questions were asked.

Take for instance the issue of retention. We stated that we have lost over 25 firefighters over the last 7-8 years. The City reply was that it did "not concern them as long as people kept applying for the positions." Regardless of how continually losing firefighters affects morale and waste taxpayers money by having to hire and train new firefighters. No questions or comments.

So again, we thank Commissioner Irizarry for listening, asking questions and voting on our behalf.

I don't believe we heard Commissioner Gemskie utter one syllable during the entire hearing until the end to vote no.

Mr. Walls, There are three other Commisioners sitting there other than Irizarry and Gemskie. What did Van Meter do during the impasse? Probably nothing like the rest of them. These are people that need to go away from politics. They do not hear the voice of the people who elected them to do the proper job for the City. Isn;t it time to say goodbye . This upcomoing election we have three seats that can be changed. The Mayor's, Seat 3 and Van Meter well she's history from the City. Let's make sure she doesn't get a chance to screw up the County worse than what it is.
