Ethically Challenged?

We were going over our earlier post today at WayneWho headquarters and realized that the letter that was sent to us from Tom Long titled "Spread The Word" possibly contained some very damaging information. In his letter he states that one of the candidates for the St. Cloud Council race was not only offered $15,000 in campaign contributions from a School Board Member, but was also threatened by that same School Board Member when he would not take the money to secure a positive vote on the Preserve housing project.

Does any one else feel the slime level rising in the room?

We started asking some questions and we have yet to find any reports or ongoing investigations into this issue from either the State's Attorney or FDLE which means that no complaint has been filed. Did this episode really happen? Did someone try to threaten a candidate and why hasn't that candidate brought these ethically challenged individuals to light? Is this standard campaign spin to look like a victim in the people's eyes, or is this a major ethical violation commited by the school board member and/or omitted by the candidate by not formally reporting the violation? We have to question the lack of true action in this murky political arena here in Osceola County. WayneWho would like to know the truth and we hope someone will investigate the charges.

The Landlords Association was videotaping the debate last night so you might be able to get that tape to verify what was actually said.

I have heard the school board member was Jay Wheeler, at least that's the rumor. He has claimed in the past how he carried St Cloud in a previous election. But who cares? Wheeler had the whole Republican party helping him! I'd like to know where he was going to raise $15,000.oo from? Certainly NOT in St Cloud! Isn't that where the election is?

This does not suprise me at all. The politicans around here have operated like this for years. We need a change in our elected officials. It is time that put people in office that are not always doing this junk in the background, or who at least have the courage to stand up to those who do.

Tom Griffen said that he was first offered money, and then threatened by a school board member at the debate last night. You are right to say he needs to file a complaint if he was threatened. If he does not file a complaint, then he is just as guilty in trying to cover up the junk that goes on with these elected officials. This stuff has to stop, and if this guy wants to win, he needs to show that he is ready to stand up to the bad politicians.

You could raise $15,000.00 pretty easy if the developers thought they would have access to you. It would be people than just those involved with the Preserve. You have to wonder why they thought Mr. Griffen could be bought, or did they just offer the same amount of money to all of the candidates to see who would go after it first.

Don't vote... It only encourages them!

I guess the letter by J.C. Oliver from earlier today rings even more true. Vote the rascals out!

Wade Davis said he did not take money from Mr. Wolf. He did horrible during the debate, but he said he did not take money from the Preserve developer.

I bet they will not ask this question at the Chamber debate espacially considering they favor this guy. Going to have a hard time going against government when he runs a program that the government pays for.

I can believe Griffin hasn't already filed a complaint. He's just like the rest of them. Isn't that apparent? This is all part of the game. "Let's pretend the school board hates me, maybe then the voters will like me!" Play on their emotions not the political reality. Why was he even talking with the developer and school board member about a price? What is his price and when will he take it? Sounds like they didn't offer him enough. Maybe they will next time around.

THEY ARE NOT GOING TO TURN IN ONE OF THEIR OWN. THEY WILL JUST KEEP IT UNDER THE RUG AS LONG AS THEY CAN. YET THE SCHOOL GRADES KEEP DROPPING AND TAXES KEEP GOING UP.

Griffin has been playing the game long enough to know that you have to play if your going to be on the inside. Remember that circle General Shipley talked about. Griffin has overwhelmingly supported most of the good 'ole boys that are in office now, so how else do you think he'd behave. It's all crap. Why can't we just get one straight candidate to run for office and stay out of the dirty politics that has haunted Osceola County for so long? Quit selling out!!! Stand up and say something or sit down and shut up! Quit playing games with the voters.

If I were a candidate, I would make the deal and take the cash while wearing a wire for the FBI. When the indictment came out I would get 80% of the vote.

Griffen likes to let people use his people who are in rehabilitation like they are slaves. Many candidates over the years have had them hold signs or walk door to door for their campaigns. All why getting government money. Interesting to say the least.

HAS ANYBODY CHECKED GRIFFIN'S TREASURER'S REPORT???
I'VE HEARD THAT THERE MIGHT BE A DONATION FROM A LAW FIRM THAT MIGHT SPECIALIZE IN LAND USE AND GOVERNMENT LAW AND THEY MIGHT WORK WITH A PERSON WHOSE INITIALS MIGHT BE J.W. AND HE MIGHT BE WORKING ON A PROJECT THAT RHYMES WITH "DESERVE."
INTERESTING!!!
THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO HMMMM...

It sounds rigged to me. I have to agree with one of the other posters in this one. He made the story sound bigger than it was to impress a room full of people. I doubt that anything illegal happened during the meetins with the school board. Sounds like a candidate trying to get people to vote for them.

Why didn't Griffen answer more questions on the threats he recieved from a school board member? What was he hiding? We know Davis is hooked on development money and would sell out the entire city, but what is Griffen hiding from?

Griffin needs to contact lawenforcement on this issues. Now he is saying that Wolf is trying to buy the council seat and that some school board member threatened him. He needs to tell the people the truth!!!

Where is the news media? Why aren't they covering this? The "Osceola News-Adzette" and
"St. Cloud in the Snooze" are asleep. Go figure.
WAKE UP!!!
I'll bet you won't see any real investigative reporting coming from those "puppet" papers.
Where's Channel 9? We need some real reporting down here.

I find it hard to believe that there is not some type of investigation into the allegations that came out of the Landlords Debate last night. Someone needs to give the tape of the meetings to the Sheriff's Department so they can figure out exactly what was stated. It looks to me like the someone is trying to stack the deck on this election, and I find that intolerable.

Can anybody say "Cover-Up"?
What is wrong with these guys?
Why can't they just say no to these developers? Special interests have always controlled this area and apparently they are still trying through the school board. Mr. Griffin needs to come clean with these accusations of his and tell us who in office thinks they are running the show here in Osceola County. Cause last time I checked bribery and blackmail are felonies and not reporting one that you've witnessed is a felony as well. Unless you're faking it or perhaps you're a part of it. Griffin needs to plead the 5th.

What about the donation has anybody checked this out?

Wayne Who,
I am an avid reader of yours and I check almost every day for your un-news. However, I read somewhat frequently another blog in the area called "Kissimmee St. Cloud Internet Broadcasting" and I hate to mention there name on your sight but I think people need to know the extent you help us understand as well as the light that you shed on local subjects as opposed to this "other guy." I couldn't help but notice since this election started, "the other guy" has basically giggled like a school girl about Mr. Griffin when they talk about him. However, they thought nobody would catch that in today's Carl Cricket, the Broadcasting blog not only altered their post by taking Tom Greer's name off of it this morning (after your story broke) but they also haven't caught the fact that they even stated Tom Griffin said in a public forum that the only reason he is solidly against the Preserve is because he was threatened by a school board member. What? Of all the reasons not to vote against the preserve -Griffin's ego won his no vote? I thought "the other guy" was against these kinds of candidates. I thought they wanted good government. Thank you Wayne Who for not being so blinded by others' arrogance. Thank you for not lying to us and then covering it up by attempting to re-write the story. And thank you for not misleading a public towards a candidate that obviously is not running in the best interests of the community. Thanks for not being like "the other guy." We not only trust your opinion, we tell everyone about it because it's just that good. Thanks a million!!!

Where is Lawson Lamar when you need him?

Did the school board member(s) threaten Mr. Griffin to a dance off? He looks like he can dance.

Still no media. Government officials intimidating candidates and no media?? Makes you wonder who the liberal media is supporting? Is it ok to keep quiet because the media supports the preserve project? It all stinks to me.

Lets get back to this Mel guy. I've heard from good sources that he is considering running for Commissioner after Smith's term is up. Please. He'll be lucky if his wife votes for him.
