Voting with their feet

Well, another one gone. While driving around the city today we noticed that the Chevy's Tex Mex restaurant in front of Target on Vine St. has removed all of their signage and was empty. Sad to see that they couldn't survive with the traffic draw of Target and Home Depot right behind them. Guess we'll have to watch and see if they turn up along Osceola Parkway.

A reminder for our St. Cloud readers: Tomorrow (Thursday 9/6) is the debate between candidates for the St. Cloud special election. The debate will be held at the KUA offices on Carroll Street, starting at 6:30 PM.

And yet another leaves. Perhaps the commissioners should forget about the free shower/fountain and start figuring out how to add incentives to revitalize what they think is a "tourist" corridor. Love the cow fountain. Keep on!

I guess you and wayne never ate at Chevy's, with the horrible food and the bad service. There is a Mexican place on Vine that has amazing food and great service and is packed for lunch and dinner every day of the week. Chevy's didn't leave, the corporation has been in bankruptcy for a few years. Chevy's won't be moving anywhere, it is closed for good. Not because of anything the City did, because they were bad at business. Should we incentive those who can't stay in business? No, bad businesses need to go.

Re: the above comment. I don't think it was the bankruptcy that did this Chevy's location in, since according to Google it was filed in 2003 and the company was sold in 2005. I agree that the service at that location was often lacking, but I still wouldn't be surprised to see it show up somewhere on Osceola Parkway. Anyone know if the Lake Buena Vista location on 535 is still open? Anyway, thanks for the tip on the other local restaurant...I like to patronize local businesses when I can.

If you check with any local restaurant business on 192 you will discover that business went down when Kissimmee took out the suicide lanes and made access a lot harder. The medial strips on 192 are actually an impediment to good traffic flow for businesses and add to your commute time.

The City of Kissimmee really screwed up on this one.

The state put the medians not the City and it saved lives. Business went down hill because there are too many nail salons, 99 cent stores and Spanish food restaurants on Vine.

So the the state screwed it up. So if you checked to see that Vine is a State road, just like John Young Parkway you would be blaming the right government.
