Check your calendars

On the public meeting calendar for this week:

Tonight (Tuesday 9/25), the City of Kissimmee considers the implementation of a Fire Rescue Special Assessment (aka "the fire fee"). The meeting begins this evening at 6 PM in the commission chambers. When we looked at the agenda today for the meeting on the city web site, it is listed as a commission workshop, which leads us to wonder whether the meeting will be carried on Access Osceola. Plan your viewing habits accordingly.

Tomorrow (Wednesday 9/26), the School Board will take public comment on the current at-large voting system beginning at 5 PM at the Osceola County School for the Arts Auditorium.

I thought they were supposed to pass the fee rate tonight? How can they do that at a workshop?

Commission workshop are never televised, but they are recorded. A citizen requesting a copy caN offer a blank cd in exchange and get a copy. Then you have to download a free program called "FTR" deluxe to hear the cd on your computer. Citizens are not allowed to speak, except if they are friends of Jim Swan because he let a former commissioner speak a few weeks after he was elected. Also, they can discuss what they will vote on, but they cannot vote, per se. But hey, its Kissimmee and the good 'ol boys will do what they want.

I think these commissioners ought to be brought up on RICO.

In regards to the school board meeting. I attended with very few people there.
Leads one to wonder if the school board scheduled the meeting at 5PM on purpose!! to keep the attendance low!!. HUH!!!

It was on tv and they took public comment. It wasn't a workshop it was public hearing. Once again no one can get their facts straight.

Get their facs straight??? I guess you did not read the agenda for the meeting. It did not say special meeting, it said workshop. The last meeting of the month is almost always a workshop. Maybe city hall needs to get on the ball and stop messing this stuff up all of the time. At least get a PIO that knows what they are doing.
