The WayneWho staff would like to congratulate all of the winners during last night's elections. Watching the returns come in was exciting and filled with surprises. We would have done very poorly at attempting to pick any winners or in trying to make any type of endorsements. To both the winners and those who did not win last night we congratulate you on jumping in to the democratic process that makes our country great.
From the news last night, and this morning it seems the elections office ran into problems again. We hope that these problems can get ironed out long before a general election that, by all appearances, is going to have a huge turn-out.

The SOE office is a joke, Connie didn't even come out of the back room to address the candidates and surrogates waiting on the numbers when there was problems. She sent the county attorney instead. Mary Jane better beat her in November!
Being in the room last night was nerve-racking. It is like the SOE has no idea of what is going on. I can not believe that we have another election where the numbers don't match up. It is just sad.
Well the COK Commissioners got their way in March. They placed on the ballot switching the election to the primary election rather than the general election.
Why??? Because they knew that there would be low turnout for the primary election. Just as there was low voter turnout in March to vote on the change. This obviously favors imcumbents. 2700 voters turned out to vote...what a joke and so pathetic.
Don't be fooled by their claim they were trying to save money. They were trying to ensure their re-election and were obviously successful.
Funny to hear both Gemskie and Swan say how "pleased" they were with the results. How proud they must be with the fact that less than 10% turnout kept them in their seats.
Let's see how many voters turnout in November to vote for the Otero/Eck runoff. I bet there will be at least 20,000 voters to cast a vote for that race. Thats exactly what Gemskie/Swan wanted so desperately to avoid.
Oh well I guess Kissimmee gets what they deserve...a rude, arrogant Mayor and a spineless Commissioner.
I would like to say that I am a Fred Hawkins supporter and I want to point a few things out. First, I would like to thank Bill Lane for the sevice he provided for the last 4 years. At first, Bill never called Fred to congraduate him on the victory, then after two days Bill called Fred to congraduate him. This call was very much needed and respectful! Bill I have a new founded respect for you, you did the right thing! Although I still think Fred Hawkins is the BEST choice, we need to tip our hat to Bill Lane for keeping his head up after the loss. Thanks Bill! I can now only hope that Bill Lane will stand with his Republician party and back Fred Hawkins. This would e the right thing to do. We need everyones help in November to vote for Fred Hawkins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bill and Fred are two special interest money peas in a pod. These to guys might as well be joined at the hip. It will be interesting to watch if the Republicans will really vote for a clone of Lane or if they will just stay home.

Fred is not involved in special interests and I wish you would get your facts straight before you speak. You sound very uninformed. If you feel the need not to vote then sit at home but don't pass comments without facts. Vote for Fred Hawkins!

Uninformed? You should do some homework on your candidate. Fred help slip by zoning changes during the last year he was on the planning board for people who would eventually become campaign contributors. Match the names on his campaign report with then names that came before the planning board and then tell me I am uninformed!

Another thing is that Fred is the manager of government affairs with Omni Waste... In that district... It screams of conflict of interest.
He did favors for people when he was on the planning board.

To Anonymous, ok first off I can gtell you that yes Fred Hawkins is friends with several builders and so am I. Does this mean Fred will sell his sole for a builder????????? NO! OK and to set you straight he does not work for Omni Waste, he works for Waste Management, and this is what feeds his family. How is this a conflict of interest??????????? If there is a vote when he is on the board, he will not be voting due to it being a conflict. Waste Management has had government contracts way before Fred became involved in politics. And everyone keeps talking about how he did special favors when he was on the planning board, but no one supports it with evidence. So why should anyone vote for Jonathan Harrell??????? He is a nice guy, who lives in the CITY, not in the county. He knows nothing about the rural areas. He is not involved in the heritage of this county (rodeos, trail rides, etc.) AND HE HAS NO EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!!!!! We need someone in there with experience and knowledge and Jonathan Harrell does not have any of the above. You will see when Fred gets 95% of the endorsements from newspapers, leaders, etc. This means something. FRED HAWKINS IS A GREAT HONEST MAN, PLEASE SUPPORT FRED HAWKINS!

I have had people tell me they support Fred because he did favors for them while on the planning board. This is not coming from me, its coming from his supporters, so dont get angry with me. I am sure that you would love to leave Freds job out of it... I am sure that Bill Clinton would like to leave the whole Monica thing out of his administration! It's not that simple, where a candidate makes his money is very important... Would you vote for Fred if he worked for one of the companies that's involved with Destiny? I think you are missing the whole point... Freds job with OMNI is a payoff for passing their dump, you know, while he was on the planning board... We need a NEW, FRESH face... Someone that without a doubt is not connected, with Fred, there are a lot of doubts, with harrell, their are none, harrell is simply not connected with the developers!

Yes your right we need a guy in his twenties who knows nothing about politics and has no clue on the out skirts of Osceole County. We need a guy who lives in the City of St Cloud,,,,,,,,,GET REAL!!! Is this the same Fred supporter that doesn't even know where Fred works, the same supporter who says he is honest, but really knows nothing about him? What does harrell's age have to do with anything? Also harrell has a degree in political science, wouldn't that qualify him as knowing something about politics?
It is apparent that Fred Hawkins supporters are clearly crazy and bitter. I would be to if my candidate had been doing favors for special interests while he was on the planning board and had been campaigning for at least three years and then could only manage to scrape about 1,200 of them to come out and vote for him against one of the worst incumbents in Osceola history.

FRED HAS THE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE TO RUN THIS COUNTY IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. HOW IS JONATHAN EXPERIENCED???????? A four year degree in Political Science, you said that Fred WAS a business owner... So IS Jonathan, you say that Fred WAS on boards(no longer on the planning board?), so IS Jonathan, you also said that Fred lives in the county... so does Jonathan... So if you are saying that Jonathan is inexperienced... So is Fred... haha! So either they both have experience, or they neither have experience? Which is it? I have compared the two, and cant wait to see how this is not good enough, and I am some how way off?! Right?!
