St. Cloud field reporters for WayneWho have been told by their sources (who have requested to stay anonymous) that the city council of St. Cloud has already decided that a special election is not going to be held to fill Mike Wetzel’s vacated seat.
Instead, an appointment will be made by the council. In addition, there is possibility that the appointment has already been decided to be given to an ex-council member that was un-seated by a majority vote of the residents of St. Cloud in the not-so-distant past.
In light of the apparent tie that the four council members have regarding the government subsidized housing project, we can’t help but question the sitting council’s motivation in skirting a vote by the people and instead choosing a recently un-seated politician. Will this stay in line with the campaign promises made to the people during the campaign season?
Stay tuned…

This same ex-council member may have made his position on workforce housing very clear in a recent letter to the editor.
WILL DONNA HART VOTE FOR OR AGAINST GLEN? IS GLEN FOR OR AGAINST SUBSIDIZED HOUSING? THE PERSON APPOINTED WILL VOTE "FOR" THE DEBACLE. BET I'M RIGHT??
Unfortunately St. Cloud is the last hope in this county of preserving the small town life that we all moved here and voted for. If this current St. Cloud council even thinks about placing an "experienced" person or an ex-council member back on that board, they too will be hoping for vacancies after the next election because they will not be filling a seat anymore. The people have already spoken on who they want up there. Don't turn on the people council members. Donna you and Jerom had better pay close attention, you ran on listening to the people, now here's your chance to prove it to us.
This is just another attack on the rights and the will of the people of our community. I would just like to know who the Michigan Avenue residents upset to get something like this dropped on top of them. This is an obvious attempt to force a housing project into a neighborhood that not only does not want it, but can not handle the impact that it will create. What all of us have to ask ourselves is who is next? Where will developers or government put their sights on next? Which is the next community to take the development knife in the back? It won't be the fancy neighborhood, it will be the working class neighborhoods that take the hit. This is a sad day in our community.
This is what happend in the City of Kissimmee when they were first trying to force the lakefront condo project down everyones throat. The new the project was going to hit a wall so they worked to keep it out of the public eye. Then when an opportunity presented itself to appoint a commissioner or have a special election because of the removal of Dr. Gant, the commissioners decided to save the taxpayers money buy appointing a pro-development person who could vote to approve the condo project.
After all was said and done, the commissioners pulled the condo project because the people fought it. I guess there is hope after all.
Any coucil member that appoints an ex-council member who was voted out of office will not be re-elected to their seats. This is about the people and their voice. This is about democracy. Anything opposing that is un-American, and we will not tolerate un-American council members in our small town.
Wow.... It looks like I will have to be finding four new council members when elections come around. It is offensive to me that our city council believes that they need to appoint someone to an elected position. To me it is Anti-American... It is as far away from Democracy as you can get. I will make it a point to not vote for these council members, if the appointment is made!
Hey, if this goes through maybe we could name St. Cloud "The Anti-American City!"
I just hope that a St. Cloud Puppet Council is in the works. It seems that the only ones listening to the people are parody puppets. The puppets that actually sit on the council now don't listen to anyone but developers who are pulling their strings. I am so dissappointed in the people I voted for. I thought they would be different.
I am a voting resident of St. CLoud. And the council should apppoint no one at all. Hold a special election. Regardless of the cost. This is the American thing to do. See who the people want in there to fill that seat and vote on this housing issue. The residents should make the decision on who represents them not the other council members. God help the council if they do. Them and their re-elections.
It is amazing the way the "Buddy" system works in Central Florida. I just wish one of these people was a buddy of the people.
You keep on this WayneWho!!! These people try to sound like what they are doing is for the good of the people, but it is not. They screw us every chance they can.
St. Cloud Council, your Kung-Fu is no good.
